Things, happening and not.

My new column is up at Publishers Weekly, in which I reveal that my hours at work have been cut by 40%. That means I work only three days a week, and that's been pretty apparent if you follow the SLG blog, which has been getting updated almost only with our Twitter feed for a while.

I am using my days off to write, both freelance stuff and my "real" writing -- that is fiction writing, which is useless and unprofitable but absolutely necessary to me. Also, I have signed up to volunteer in a literacy program once a week, and I take my mother to her chemotherapy appointments once or twice a month.

It's been interesting trying to manage my time at work with 40% less of it. It's nothing but getting books out, a lot less time to read submissions, send out review copies, write press releases, keep the blog updated, goof off, and muse about stuff. It's a good thing there are only two or three books to put out a month. I'll have some time to catch up in April.

So that's that, and I'm OK. I've been regarding it as an opportunity to make time for my writing, which is what is most important to me anyway.

Best wishes with how the chemo goes; I went through it was well with my mother.

Thank you! She's doing really well, all things considered.
